And the More Intelligent Sex is

In case you’re wondering whether boys are sharper than girls in terms of cognitive abilities, think again. Study after study suggests that although women tend to score lower in certain areas, they clearly outshine men in a number of others.

The Sexual Evolution

boys vs girls And the More Intelligent Sex isUntil recently it was widely believed that high school boys outperform girls in mathematics and science, while girls score higher on writing and content exams asking questions relating to material covered in the classroom. According to a 2008 study financed by the U.S. National Science Foundation, girls now perform just as well as boys in mathematics.

Regarding memory skills, most studies have determined that women are more proficient at retaining and recalling information, with particular respect to short and medium-term memories.

Male vs. Female Cognitive Abilities – Who’s on Top?

Looking at visual perception (pun intended), specifically spatial abilities such as tracking a moving object through space and mental rotation, guys are known to demonstrate a significant edge over gals. (Scientific studies have yet to determine whether this is a direct result of girl-watching.)

So, are men sharper than women? The evidence gathered thus far fails to support this theory in a number of cognitive fields. Women, it should be noted, are known to invest more in training their brains. According to Wikipedia, in general knowledge tests men score significantly higher than women in all areas, aside from cooking. Now there’s food for thought.

And the battle of wits continues…
