In a freak incident during the weekends football (soccer) games in the UK, Sunderland FC scored an incredible goal against Liverpool. The goal was the only one in the game causing additional heartbreak and frustration.
The incident happened when a Liverpool fan threw a beach ball on the pitch at the same time the Sunderland player struck the ball towards the goal. The football hit the beach ball and was diverted past the Liverpool goalkeeper. The referee in the bigger shock allowed the goal to stand despite official FIFA rules that any outside influence causes the game to be stopped.
