Finding the Right Job


In 1976 Hackman & Oldham completed their research on motivation in the workplace in relation to finding the right job and ensuring peak performance. They proposed the "Job Characteristics Model". The model states that there are five main job characteristics which include: skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, and feedback.
 

All these characteristics create a definitive impact on the three psychological states which are; experienced meaningfulness, experienced responsibility for outcomes, and knowledge of the actual results. These in turn influencing job satisfaction.
